On October 6, a different kind of ROCKSTAR will descend upon the stage at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta: the iconic Atlanta chef, specifically, Kevin Rathbun and Linton Hopkins. Both chefs will be honored for their work and commitment to the culinary community here and beyond Atlanta.

“We have some of the greatest talents in the food world right in our backyard,” said Atlanta Eats founder and host Steak Shapiro. “We love showcasing these people on our show, but wanted to go a step further and celebrate these guys for all they’ve done to put Atlanta dining on the map.”

So why host this event at a music venue rather than a restaurant? “We started thinking about how music brings people together in the same way great food does, and the two are often intertwined,” said Shapiro. “Now more than ever, chefs are developing a rockstar status and we’re saluting two of our favorites while showcasing 30 of our best restaurants in the city.”

Atlanta Eats Live will take place in Alpharetta, on the outskirts of the city. “We’re all about unique events and partnerships and have an engaged audience living outside the perimeter,” said Shapiro, “One comment we hear over and over again from restaurateurs is, ‘You will not believe how far people have traveled to come see us after a show has aired.’ So, we are bringing Atlanta Eats to them.”

That experience includes 30 of Atlanta’s best restaurants in one place, though Shapiro is quick to clarify that this is not a food festival. “The food is there, it’s a huge part of the evening, but with the caliber of restaurants participating and the overall experience of the event, it’s more like we’re bringing 30 great nights out to one place.” With relationships beyond TV, Atlanta Eats has secured some of the city’s finest restaurants many that rarely do off property event. Hal’s, Rathbun’s, The Optimist, 4th & Swift and Watershed are just a few joining the Sunday celebration. A full list of participating restaurants will be announced shortly.
